About Dr. Wyatt
Why I practice psychotherapy?
Working with clients to make changes in their lives connects me to the deepest parts of human experience and the resilience of people in the most difficult situations. I appreciate the nature of therapy where collaborating together can bring a real sense of hope, change and healing to people's lives.
- Licensed Psychologist: CA License #PSY12200 since 1991
- I trained extensively in intepersonal, existential, psychodynamic, couples. family systems, solution focused and mindfulness based Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) psychotherapies. My work integrates these approaches specifically tailored to each client's needs, personal goals and motivations. No one approach can address all concerns, so it is important to have many tools and techniques available when needed.
- My training included working under well renowned leaders in psychology such as Rollo May, Irvin Yalom, James Bugental, and Sohan lal Sharma.
- I make use of the best of Evidence Based Psychotherapy techniques (See APA myths and realities and APA Resources on what works in therapy.) and approaches shown by extensive research to be effective when tailored to client needs, goals and preferences.
